This post is from the first blog I started, called “How to Start a Law Firm.” Over the years I’ve moved to different sites a few times and wanted to catalog all of my content in one place. If an article refers to a link and there is no link, sorry, that’s consequence of the move. Enjoy!
This isn’t the only thing I’m going to talk about today (and this one will be much shorter than the past couple of posts), but as I was sitting around today I began to wonder, do you all even like these posts on how to start a law firm blog?
The reason I’m writing them is for you, so speak up. If you think they suck let me know and I’ll quit I guess.
The Other Reason for This Post | Why I Don’t Use Blogger Anymore
As you all know (I think) back in the day I was a big proponent of blogger blogs. They were free, they were easy to set up, and they provided everything I thought I needed in a blog. I’d always heard the warning “be careful because you don’t own it” but I didn’t pay much attention to it.
You can bet I’ll never be using another blogger blog again.
As you can see from the picture, my traffic lawyer blog was deleted from blogger several weeks ago. The email cites “SPAM” as the reason for the deletion, but I hadn’t done anything differently than I’d done for the previous three years on that blog. It was my main traffic ticket blog, so I treated it with 100% legitimacy.
In one day, without any ability to fix it – POOF – it was gone.
Thankfully (and this may be why it was deleted, though I haven’t had similar problems with other blogs) I’d recently moved all of the posts and everything over to this URL so I didn’t lose any of the content. But I did lose all the SEO I’d built up for it over the last few years (the site simply doesn’t work anymore, so any link pointing to it is dead). Guess it’s a hard lesson learned.
That’s Why I Think this Blogging Thing is so Important
If you are starting a law firm, marketing your law firm needs to be at the forefront of your thoughts every day. A blog is a great way to do this. Don’t take the easy way out today to lose all of your hard work tomorrow.
If you’ve missed it so far, here are the links to my series of posts on starting a law firm blog:
And, finally, I’d love to hear your comments and thoughts. Is it easy to understand? Do you want more information? I want to help you be successful!
